Artist and ceramist Richard Carter and writer and editor Sarah Lonsdale are hosting a Winter Market in Napa Valley's St Helena.
The pair have collaborated over the years and felt there was a need to create a venue to showcase local designers and craftspeople. To that end, with this holiday market, they will be bringing together over 25 sellers featuring ceramics, jewelry, textiles, tabletop, artisanal foods, and furniture handcrafted locally from Napa, Sonoma, the Bay Area and even New York.
Artist and designer Richard Carter is a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute where he studied under the renowned ceramist Ken Ferguson. In 1990 the Northern California native established the Richard Carter Studio in Napa to provide an environment to stimulate creative and personal growth among committed ceramic artists through mutual exchange of ideas, techniques and philosophies.
In spring, 2000 he moved to Pope Valley where he created a pottery but in 2007 re-established the Richard Carter Studio. His art has been shown in galleries across the country, is in the permanent collections of the Crocker Museum, Sacramento, the Rene di Rosa Preserve, Napa, CA and the Stuart and Maxine Frankel Foundation for Arts, Bloomfield Hills, MI as well as housed in many other established collections, internationally.
